Tell us about your journey as an artist.
I have been creating and drawing and painting since I was a little girl. I thought that to enjoy my art as a career that the only available option was to become an art teacher.
I started a degree in Visual Arts but soon realized that I would love to design textile prints.
Back in the 1980s, there wasn’t a textile design degree course in Sydney so I luckily managed to get a traineeship in one of the leading textile design studios in Sydney at the time.
I remained in textile design for 30 years designing every print imaginable from tropical swimwear to cute sleepwear prints to high fashion dress prints. I worked in textile design studios, at printers and also at fashion companies. My designs sold in New York, Paris, London, and of course Sydney.
I also worked for a number of years designing greeting cards that were sold all over Australia.
After many years of working on computers using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I am delighted to start painting in watercolours again on real, live, beautiful watercolour paper instead of a computer screen.
I am also delighted to share my paintings of beautiful pieces of nature with all of you. I derive so much joy from painting and I truly hope a glimpse of that joy can be seen in my paintings and also hope that somehow it can be transferred to you.
Where can we contact you + see more of your work?
All my paintings are available as prints at my ETSY store.
I sell them in A4, A3, A2, and the huge A1 size.
I can also be contacted via Facebook messenger to paint commissions. I can work in collaboration with a client to paint an Australian native or bird to their specifications or colour schemes.
A4 size is $250
A3 size is $475
